Terms of Service

Effective 29 September 2026 · Applies to the Nimbu app for Android (com.keshavbits.nimbu) and this website

The short version
  • Nimbu is a personal expense tracker. It isn't a bank, doesn't move money, and doesn't give financial advice.
  • Your data is yours and stays on your phone. Keeping backups, and remembering your backup password, is up to you.
  • Auto-capture and prices can be wrong. Check important numbers against your bank or fund statements.
  • Nimbu is provided “as is”, and our liability is limited as described below.

1. Agreeing to these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and KeshavBits (“we”, “us”), the developer of Nimbu. By installing or using the Nimbu app or this website, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Nimbu.

2. What Nimbu is

Nimbu helps you record and understand your personal finances. It can read transaction alerts that your bank sends by SMS (only if you turn this on), and lets you add transactions yourself, set budgets, track bills, investments and money you've lent, and back up your data.

Nimbu is not a bank, payment service, lender, investment adviser or tax adviser. It cannot make, stop or reverse payments, and it has no access to your bank accounts beyond the messages on your phone.

3. Who can use Nimbu

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to use Nimbu. If you're younger, you may use it only with the involvement of a parent or guardian who agrees to these terms.

4. Your licence to use the app

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use Nimbu on devices you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial use. You agree not to:

Nimbu, its name, logo, design and code belong to KeshavBits. These terms don't give you any rights to them beyond this licence. Fonts and other third-party components are used under their own licences.

5. Your data

6. Accuracy: please double-check

Nimbu interprets bank messages automatically. Banks change their message formats, messages can arrive late or not at all, and a message can be misread. As a result a transaction may be missing, duplicated, in the wrong category or show the wrong amount.

Balances, budgets, insights, forecasts (“at this pace…”) and investment values are estimates based on what's in the app. Fund NAVs come from AMFI and crypto prices from CoinGecko; these may be delayed, unavailable or incorrect, and stock and gold values are whatever you enter.

Nimbu is a helpful tool, not an official record. Don't rely on it alone for financial, tax, legal or investment decisions; check your bank, card and fund statements, and consult a qualified professional where it matters.

7. Third-party services

Some features rely on services we don't control, including Google Play, Google Drive and Google sign-in, AMFI and CoinGecko. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies, and we aren't responsible for their availability or behaviour. Downloads and any purchases through Google Play are also subject to Google Play's terms.

8. Updates and availability

We may update Nimbu to fix problems, improve it, or respond to changes in Android, Google Play or bank message formats. Updates may add, change or remove features. We don't promise that Nimbu will always be available, work on every device, or recognise every bank, and we may stop offering it. Because your data is stored on your phone, you can keep exporting it even if the app is discontinued.

9. Disclaimer

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Nimbu is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We don't warrant that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that it will capture every transaction correctly.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, KeshavBits will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for any loss of data, money, profits or opportunity, arising from your use of, or inability to use, Nimbu, including losses caused by missed, incorrect or duplicated transactions, inaccurate prices, or lost backups or passwords.

Where liability can't be excluded, our total liability to you for all claims relating to Nimbu is limited to the amount you paid us for the app in the 12 months before the claim, if any. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have as a consumer that can't be limited by law.

11. Ending your use

You can stop using Nimbu at any time by uninstalling it. Your licence ends automatically if you break these terms. Sections 5, 6, 9, 10 and 12 continue to apply after your use ends.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute will be handled by the courts of competent jurisdiction in India, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim in your local courts.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We'll post the new version on this page and change the effective date above. If a change is significant, we'll also mention it in the app's release notes. If you keep using Nimbu after a change takes effect, you accept the updated terms.
